Safety & submission rules

LayFlat is a community-run guide. It only works if the information in it is honest and the people using it stay safe. Here's what that means in practice.

Every spot, tip, and policy on LayFlat is community-sourced. It may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date — always verify locally before you rely on it.

Airport rules, security procedures, and overnight access change without notice and vary by terminal, season, and even by shift. What worked for someone last month may not work for you tonight.

You sleep at any spot at your own risk. LayFlat is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any airport, airline, or terminal operator.

• Keep valuables close, secured, and ideally out of sight while you sleep.

• Prefer airside, staffed, or well-lit areas over isolated or dim corners.

• Stay aware of your surroundings — set an alarm and check on your belongings periodically.

• Know your airport's overnight and lockout policy before you commit to a spot, especially if it's listed as 24h — some terminals close or restrict access overnight regardless of what a spot claims.

• Only add publicly-permitted rest areas — places anyone is allowed to sit or sleep.

• Don't post restricted, staff-only, employee-only, or trespassing spots, even if you've personally gotten away with using one.

• Be honest and specific — accurate locations, hours, and tips keep everyone safer.

We store your email address (used to sign you in), the spots, reviews, and photos you submit, and — only when you confirm a spot or file a live report — the coarse GPS coordinates from that moment, used solely to verify you were actually at the airport.

We don't sell your data.

No points, no gimmicks — just real information.
